The Karl Rove Controversy

  Dateline: Monday July 18, 2005 Eugene, Oregon -- It seems appropriate to be writing this brief article on the day of the monthly Moon-Pluto union in Sagittarius. The Moon is the fastest moving celestial body that collects cosmic energy and then releases it to the Earth and humanity. Pluto is the outermost and slowest moving planet – approximately 3 billion miles away – and represents underworlds, extremism, scandalous behavior and deep-seated transformation.
  
  While this story of secret governmental leaking, the “outing” of a covert CIA operative (Valerie Plame, wife of a former ambassador within the Clinton administration, Joseph Wilson), reporters trying to keep their sources confidential, and the big name presence of conservative columnist Robert Novak and presidential adviser Karl Rove has film-in-the-making written all over it, the entire affair is placing the so-called “bad boy genius” of the political right in the national spotlight.
  
  Karl Rove – who has been masterminding many high-level Republican candidates for top offices over the last quarter century – was born on December 25, 1950 in Denver, Colorado (time unknown). It was during the past week that his name, image, background and involvement with this scandal became the Big Story around the country. And in keeping with this reality, his astrological birthchart and the transiting cycles of planets scored a DIRECT HIT!
  
  Look below at his horoscope – created as if he were born at sunrise and utilizing a Solar Chart for his birthday. Notice that Saturn is above at 2+ Libra while Neptune is also above at 19+ Libra. Their midpoint in his chart is definitely activating 10+ Libra. Not only was the largest planet in the solar system (Jupiter) moving over that precise zodiacal placement all of last week, but the transiting midpoint of Saturn (fate; karma; responsibility) and Pluto (extremes; covert operations) was right at 10+ Libra as well! And a natal Saturn/Neptune midpoint – the one being ignited by transiting Jupiter and transiting Saturn/Pluto – is well-known by midpoint experts over the last 60+ years to connect with personal, bodily, emotional and/or mental weakness, vulnerability, illusions and deceptions.
  
  Since Mr. Rove is born with a Sun in Capricorn square (abrasive; forceful; dynamic) to Saturn in Libra – and America was born with a Sun-Saturn square as well from Cancer to Libra – what Karl Rove does within the Bush administration hits the national media and political consciousness like a thunderbolt. Most election pundits and researchers know he is the key person who devised the strategy in 2004 that allowed George W. Bush to defeat John Kerry – handily in the popular vote, but narrowly in the electoral vote (remember Ohio).
  
  Why is Karl Rove so close to George W. Bush – where some people see him as almost his intellectual surrogate? This can be clearly answered by a brief glance at his chart. The Moon is in its home sign of Cancer – united with the president’s Sun-sign and the USA Sun-sign. A Moon-Sun close conjunction between any two people is probably the strongest of all links. Emotionally and psychically, Mr. Rove deeply understands the president’s feelings, moods, instincts, motivations, desires and hopes. Toss in the fact that Karl Rove is born with a virtually stationary Mercury (mind; ideas; communications; flow of information) – the Messenger of the Gods planet began a retrograde cycle just 48 hours before his birth – and you realize how potent his intellectual prowess is. Any heavenly body that makes a station (appears to have no motion from the Earth’s vantage point) is enormously powerful for good or ill. Plus – his Mercury is almost precisely conjunct Ceres, the largest asteroid ruling over Mother Earth, the land, food industry and being prolific. When America was born on July 4, 1776, the only stationary celestial body was Ceres. Ceres also equates with cereals, grains and our being the “bread basket” to the world. Rove’s tie-in with Ceres helps to explain his ability to keep all those RED states (many of which constitute the corn-wheat-rye-oats farming block within the USA) going into the Republican column every four years in November.
  
  There’s more reinforcement of this guy’s ingenuity and national attunement coming from his birthchart. He is born on the day of an exact Sun-Jupiter sextile (60 degrees) from 3+ Capricorn to 3+ Pisces. These are the two largest celestial bodies and their rapport -- via 60 degrees -- suggests a highly constructive and productive inter-working of energies, inspirations and creative output. Since America’s Venus is located at 3+ Cancer (exactly opposite Karl Rove’s Sun and exactly trine his Jupiter), he clearly is in synchronicity with the pulse of the country’s heartbeat as well as a large contingent of married, moderate and conservative women voters who fear terrorism and extreme changes within the national economy. Note: Guess what? Not only is his Sun directly polarized to America’s Venus, but America’s Sun (13+ Cancer) is directly polarized to Karl Rove’s Venus (13+ Capricorn). This astounding, “double whammy” in a positive way has undoubtedly never happened before in our history as a republic. It helps us understand why this man – who attended three or more colleges but never achieved one undergraduate degree – was destined to play a prominent role in our nation’s destiny, like him or not!
  
  Notice as well that he has incarnated with a Sun-Pallas union within three degrees. While the precise linkage occurred in late Sagittarius a few days before he was born, this reveals Karl Rove as a strong emissary of Pallas Athena – the goddess of wisdom, inventiveness, imagineering, a warrior mentality and profound gift for strategizing. Wow! This says so much about this man’s actual role over the years within his political party, for George W. Bush personally, and regarding his current position as Deputy Chief of Staff within The White House.
  
  While one could go on and on with these astrological connections regarding Karl Rove – for instance, his Chiron (wounded mentor and healer figure) at 26 Sagittarius and conjunct the heart center of the Milky Way Galaxy, our galactic home and source energy, or his natal Pluto at 19+ Leo exactly at his Saturn/Uranus midpoint (another indication of his dark and mysterious political clout and behind-the-scenes savvy) – another “biggie” at the time of his birth was what occurred with Vesta. This asteroid – the fourth to be discovered in the first decade of the nineteenth century – was located at 6+ Taurus. If you examine its placement in his chart, it is not conjunct anything – although it is closely squaring Mars in Aquarius, sextile to Uranus in Cancer, and trine to the Sun in Capricorn. Nevertheless, the main reality here is that Vesta made a direct station on December 23, 1950, just two days before his birth. If you look in a daily asteroid ephemeris for December 1950, it will be clear that Vesta really had no motion at Karl Rove’s birth. This small asteroid is a BIG PLAYER when it comes to national security and safety issues – as the great pioneer in this field (Eleanor Bach – deceased in the 1990s) noted dozens of times in her writings and Planet Watch newsletter for many years. Karl Rove’s Vesta in Taurus – the same zodiacal placement it has when America was born – is another reason he has an office in The White House under this president.
  
  So where will everything proceed for this controversial political figure? The coming Mars retrograde and direct stations (October 1 at 23+ Taurus and December 9 at 8+ Taurus) will closely oppose his natal Juno at 23 Scorpio and natal Mars at 8 Aquarius. Juno is associated with empowerment or disempowerment in love, relationships and marriage – and has a shadow side linked with rage, anger and terrorism by the weak and victimized. This appears to connect him with the plight of outed, covert CIA agent Valerie Plame and her marriage to former ambassador Joseph Wilson. And let us not forget the plight of reporter Judith Miller who has already been imprisoned for NOT revealing her sources. We might say that Judith Miller is “married” to her newspaper (The New York Times) and her profession (being a journalist). Karl Rove’s Juno in the fixed, power sign of Scorpio -- about to be ignited in late September and early October by stationing Mars (plus a transit of Venus in Scorpio literally on his Juno) -- is an indicator of the hot water he is currently in and which may become even more boiling in nature come this fall.
  
  In the meantime, the Mars direct station of December 9 – so close to exactly squaring his natal Mars – seems to portend more acute discomfort for this national standard bearer for extreme, conservative values. Top this off by realizing that the two largest planets – Jupiter and Saturn – are about to conduct their renewed version of The War of the Worlds in the heavens from December 2005 to October 2006 via a tense square formation in Scorpio and Leo (squaring and opposing his Mars several times) and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that it is probably better for Rove to resign than take continual heat from Bush-bashers and Republican-haters for too long as we move into the crucial mid-term U.S. Congressional election of 2006! After all, Karl Rove can simply pick up the phone and talk to the president any time he wants. It may be more convenient that he is right there in The White House, but remember that President George W. Bush doesn’t have to be re-elected anymore. He is a lame-duck and for the well-being of his party and the next Republican candidate for president, it will be better to let Rove go than for him to become an extreme liability and rallying cry for Democrats and Liberals seeing blood as the next big election nears.
