The author acknowledges that the same periods in history demonstrated equally important developments in Asian, Arabic, African, and other cultures but a comprehensive review of Pluto in Capricorn throughout the entire global history is beyond the scope of this article. PLUTO IN BUSINESS ATTIRE
This article is focused on the analysis of Pluto in Capricorn. The previous eight Pluto in Capricorn periods were: 1762 to 1777, 1516 to 1532, 1270 to 1287, 1024 to 1041, 778 to 795, 532 to 550, 287 to 305, 42 to 60. The period 1762 to 1777 is the focus of this article. But a quick look at a few prior periods give us some insight into the types of issues and activities that rise to the fore during a Pluto in Capricorn transit:(1)
The period 1516 to 1532 began with the Protestant Reformation in Europe, spearheaded by Martin Luther’s challenge to the Catholic Church in 1517, incited by the Church’s selling of indulgences to fund papal excesses. During this same period, Spanish invaders devastated the Aztec Empire led by Hernán Cortés, followed closely by Francisco Pizarro’s conquest of the Inca Empire, and the Spanish domination of the Mayan Empire during its Late Postclassic period.
The years 1270-1287 was also focused on territorial expansion and conquest starting with Marco Polo’s famous journey to China in 1275 to establish new east-west trade routes, followed by the Mongol Kublai Khan establishing the Yuan dynasty in China in 1279.
The transit of 1024-1041 was, perhaps, the true foundation of capitalistic expansion and warfare with the formalization of modern banking and currency systems. In 1024 the Chinese invented paper currency to replace the ropes of heavy coin worn by wealthy merchants, and European moneychangers at Medieval trade fairs invented the first negotiable instruments in the form of bills of exchange which could be cashed in at other fairs in a different country or at the same fair on a different date.(2) Both of these innovations were directed at enabling the transfer of large sums of wealth in a way that avoided the dangers of moving the object of wealth (usually coinage or gold).
In the 21st century, Pluto will be in Capricorn from January 26, 2008 to June 14, 2008 and then from November 27, 2008 to March 23, 2023 and then from June 11, 2023 to January 21, 2024 and finally from September 1, 2024 to November 19, 2024. This is the usual 16-year period for Pluto in Capricorn. During the current transit “debt has reached unsustainable levels. We could now see the widespread overhaul of economic systems, and the potential collapse of some financial institutions, or stock markets. Will the imbalance in the distribution of wealth lead to revolutions or uprisings, or will there be even starker divisions between rich and poor? Will we be somehow forced to start living within our means, or will greedy corporations continue to pillage our planet’s resources even as they become depleted? Will we experience a period of global recession, or even depression?”(3)PILLARS OF MODERN THOUGHT
During the 18th century various periods of ‘Enlightenment’ throughout western Europe, Britain, and Scotland collectively produced a spirit of that age, a ‘Zeitgeist’, that evolved and spread to mold today’s dominant world economic system based in the use of capital, establish many of earth’s Democratic governments, and initiate the recognition of basic human rights. Today’s systems have deviated little from those core principles and philosophies laid down by the likes of Adam Smith on economics (“the pursuit of self interest”, “the concept of the invisible hand”, and free trade) and Kant on the “a priori” foundation set by “space and time” for all thought and action. It was Prussian Immanuel Kant (1724-1804)(4), who birthed the “Critique of Pure Reason” (I & II) to salvage parts of the western systems, namely religion and science, from philosophers who had gutted them one by one. Even today, hundreds of years later, we lean heavily upon the ideas framed by Kant.
First, from the prior century 1600-1700, arose the materialistic viewpoints. “There is nothing in the mind except what was first in the senses,” was framed by John Locke (1632-1704)(5), and in turn this philosophy’s dismemberment came at the pen of Irish Anglican Bishop George Berkeley (1685-1753)(6), who wrote, in his “A Treatise Concerning the Principles of Human Knowledge” that “All the choir of heaven and furniture of earth—in a word, all those bodies which compose the mighty frame of the world—have not any subsistence without a mind.” Berkeley’s philosophy of ‘all is mind’ was then savaged by the Scottish skeptic, David Hume (1711-1776)(7), who said in 1739 in “A Treatise Upon Human Nature” that the mind is only known by perception (as was the case of matter) and furthermore that we only perceive feelings, ideas, and memories, not a “mind”. A commentator at the time wrote in response, “No matter, never mind.” In 1748, Hume set down the words, “Custom, then, is the great guide of human life.”
This was the context for Prussian Kant’s ideas, a counter to Hume’s damage – the idea of analysis based upon a foundation of conclusions not based in ‘sense-experience’, of realizations and certitude established before experience – an a priori
understanding.(8) Historian Will Durant describes Kant’s a priori
agents of “selection and coordination”, using “two simple methods for the classification of the material presented to it: the sense of space,
and the sense of time.”
(9) He continues writing, “As the general arranges the messages brought him according to the place from which they come, and the time at which they were written, and so finds an order and a system for them all; so the mind allocates its sensations in space and time, attributes them to this object here or that object there, to this present time or to that past. Space and time are not things perceived, but modes of perception, ways of putting sense into sensation; space and time are organs of perception.”
We are concerned here with these Enlightenment Philosophers because they were contemporaries with Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and their compatriots, and many of their works strongly influenced these founders of the United States. These philosophers’ ideas shaped the world in which America had her ‘Significant Moment’ on July 4, 4:47 p.m., 1776, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Given the power of Kant’s ideas, about a priori modes of perception strange doors swing open. Historian Will Durant writing on Kant said, “They are a priori, because all ordered experience involves and presupposes them. They are a priori because it is inconceivable that we should ever have any future experience that will not also involve them. And because they are a priori, their laws, which are the laws of mathematics are a priori, absolute and necessary, world without end.”
Durant, supra. MODES OF ASTROLOGICAL PERCEPTION
Astrology is the strangest of doors. Astrology’s roots are solidly anchored in space and time concepts. Initially it would seem that the ideas of the Enlightenment set their hands against the metaphysics astrology represented; so much wisdom had been recklessly sealed over, as junk, by the ideas of Locke (he of the generation witnessing science’s emergence with Galileo, and Bacon in the 1660s). But consider from Kant’s ideas how from space a disorderly rush of a priori
astrological stimuli, a moment of time captured by a horoscope, a scoop of symbols plucked from the sky, would congeal into sensations. And these sensations could then order into patterns (aspect relationships – trines, conjunctions, and squares, etc.), to form a perception, which then gives rise to a conclusion, eventually leading to wisdom.
So I believe it is Kant, considered the greatest of the Enlightenment thinkers, who leaves me my opening in the pages of his Critique
so that the western mindset can restore and embrace astrology. The astrology of 1776, even Kant’s birth space
(that disorganized rush of ‘stimuli’ shaping my own thinking) in Konigsberg, Prussia (54 N 43’/20˚ E 31) gathers and makes an argument in support of what I see in the U.S. Pluto position.TRANSCENDENTAL ASTROLOGY
In a ‘Significant Moment’ of time during the process of the establishment of the U.S. (July 4, 4:47 p.m., 1776), the terrestrial Earth became imbued (for a group of people) with a memory of a celestial pattern of angular relationships aligned in space
to the planet Pluto; some 5900 million km from the Sun (by comparison, Earth is 150 million km distant).
It is space and time values that organize perception of Pluto’s astrological correlates (her symbolic values), manifesting (for America) throughout the Earth into concepts, and those concepts into knowledge - into a science. Under the astrologer’s eye correlate values range over all manner of expressions of fertilization, enrichment, and purification. They are easily recognized in Earth’s most awesome physical movements (those of volcanoes, fumaroles, and earthquake epicenters), also her rare (character rich) mineral formations, and in other wealth harvested within the wide-ranging lithosphere (crustal Earth). Other correlates of Pluto include powerful life forms present in hostile and hidden Earth environments, those that remain great mysteries to the human mind, and those processes that bring them to light.
The perceptions seen through an astrological lens makes visible to the eye congenital Pluto zones on terrestrial maps, marking Earth’s terrain with a unique gestalt; wisdom for the unfolding meaning of the American nation for the duration of her existence. Below is an Astro*Carto*Graphy® A*C*G(10)
map of that whole U.S. Pluto pattern, revealing where in space the planet was timed
as it rose, culminated, set, or was in a ‘midnight’ position relative to Earth. The Fourth of July has been honored since the nation’s inception as a precious time, and it remains important, enshrined in myth and metaphysical mystery. Events occurring before America’s manifestation can be tied to signatures in the horoscope and to places marked by its maps – this is a priori.
I am of the opinion that such a moment as this is an inheritance, like knowing your own birthday. The chart and map provides essential guidance in the benefits, duties and responsibilities of being an informed, engaged, contributing U.S. citizen. Without it, I can see that we have all navigated rudderless now for 233 years. Through it, the enormous importance of certain events emerges as wisdom. When Presidents Adams and Jefferson, second and third Presidents of the United States, celebrated framers and signers of the Declaration of Independence, both died on the 50th anniversary of the 4th of July in 1826, the importance of the time was heralded for those with the perception to see. Here are their final words preserved in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations (Sixth Edition):
Thomas Jefferson said, “This is the Fourth?”
John Adams said, “Thomas-Jefferson-Still surv[ives]“ U.S. PLUTO ZONES, WARFARE & A CHALLENGE
Spend 20 years doing extensive research on these zones, closely scanning for stories unique to the American Pluto correlates, and from the intense stimulus you cannot help but form perceptions that focus you upon the warfare playing out under the U.S. Pluto Midheaven Zone (MH). I have pursued this trail for two decades now (since 1987). The trail runs through space along 50˚ East longitude and sweeps the stages of the Chechen Crises, the Armenian Crises, the Iraq/Iran War, the First and Second U.S. Wars, with years of “No-Fly” Zone between them in the Gulf. The synchronization of these events in space
astrological movements to the U.S. Pluto (27˚ Capricorn 34’) pattern was well documented (11) and frequently published over that span of time.(12)
Recently, a question was poised from an astrologer peer as to whether there were other correlates besides naked, unsavory power expressed through warfare occurring within the four Pluto zones. This author was asked, “Can you find other issues affecting the current countries in the Paran zone that you write about that are not war related?” My challenger wanted me to show evidence of other Pluto values (like its economic, energy, and renewal signatures), occurring simultaneously within the Pluto Zones, which are as pronounced as the war evidence, that will make the reality of the Pluto Zone’s existence beyond debate.
That challenge was issued following the Wesak Full Moon of May 20, 2008. And new perceptions and conceptions, set in from scanning the Pluto rising (Ascendant) zone for other choices from the torrent of unorganized stimuli possible. It was the value of the Pluto symbol that led my selection. For over a year, 2007 – 2008, the financial markets had been rumbling, and the Royal Bank of Scotland(13), a U.S. Pluto Ascendant Zone manifestation, was in the center of the business bull’s-eye for those interested in such things. To the eyes of this astrologer the perceptions were growing more disturbing from the U.S. perspective. And coinciding in time
with the emerging banking news stimulus from within the space of the Pluto Zone was a transiting a New Moon in January 2007 to the U.S. Pluto position, just as Pluto in the sky prepared to time
its ingress into Capricorn. These were the a priori
signatures that pointed unerringly to “banking” and thus the trail of a second major Pluto theme for me to explore, one just as important as warfare.
America’s Pluto Zone through Scotland, and more broadly the UK marked places she connected with economic activity, commercial activity/trade; indeed it marked the inspirational root source of America’s particular system of economics. Before I fully switch from the war signatures of Pluto, let me remind that warfare is frequently the bedmate of economic activity – as we shall see in the upcoming discussion. In the Mercantile System monarchs protected their power and the sources of their wealth (their colonies) with corrupt, inefficient business systems. The Mercantile System was the reigning economic system in the world in 1776. Many of the Enlightenment Philosophers trained their pens on it for discussion. Its fate would be determined by these philosophers – especially one born in Scotland.PLUTO ENTERS CAPRICORN 1762
From 1756 through 1763 Great Britain and France fought “The Seven Years War” in the lands of their respective colonies throughout North America (Canada, New England colonies, Cuba) and even far from the Americas in the Philippines. In these places, in a winner take all (zero-sum
) death struggle; they fought over the origin places of rich import goods that enriched their respective homelands (coffee, sugar, wood, indigo, spices, gold, silver, and more). Pluto was transiting through Sagittarius during the seven years of the war, from mid-Sagittarius to 3˚ Capricorn. With the ingress into Capricorn (1762) the world witnessed the dawning of an era of profound transformation (Pluto manifestation) of systems (a Capricorn correlate) in power, in particular the mercantile financial (Pluto’s signature) system then in conflict. The winner of the conflict would become the reigning Superpower. It was the beginning of the inevitable transformation of and an end of inept monarchs protecting colonies with armies. PURIFICATION
The new country, the United States of America, came into being representing a purification (Pluto’s core correlate) of British and Old World economic systems with their colonies. Kant wrote forcefully on those specific topics. In 1784, he published an exposition titled, “The Natural Principle of the Political Order considered in connection with the Idea of a Universal Cosmopolitical History.” In 1795 he published an essay on “Eternal Peace” propounding his conception that “The human race, viewed as a whole, may be regarded as the realization of a hidden plan of nature to bring about a political constitution, internally and externally perfect, as the only state in which all the capacities implanted by her in mankind can be fully developed.” Kant wrote that all standing armies should be abolished. Consider this advocacy in light of his living in the Prussian state, a state like ancient Sparta 1600-1700, devoted to warfare.
Kant felt that the embrace of warfare was connected to the expansion by European powers into the Americas, Africa, and Asia. He spoke of their fighting over spoils like thieves. “If we compare the barbarian instances of inhospitality…with the inhuman behavior of the civilized, and especially the commercial, states of our continent, the injustice practiced by them even in their first contact with foreign lands and people fills us with horror; the mere visiting of such peoples being regarded by them as equivalent to a conquest. America, the negro lands, the Spice Islands, the Cape of Good Hope, etc., on being discovered were treated as countries that belonged to nobody; for the aboriginal inhabitants were reckoned as nothing…And all this has been done by nations who make a great ado about their piety, and who, while drinking up iniquity like water, would have themselves regarded as the very elect of the orthodox faith.”
America, in conflict with the British military-enforced exploitation, fought to forge an economic system based upon freedom (Pluto - ‘self-interest’ and ‘free markets’), on fair and just systems (no cronyism or privileged character), and limited government. These were ideas aligned with the newly emerged “enlightenment” ideas out of the backyard environments and culture of the United Kingdom – the colonial nemesis. MARKING SPACE WITH ADAM SMITH & IMMANUEL KANT
The grand architect of these ideas (extraordinary at the time) was Adam Smith. His great work “The Wealth of Nations”
,(14) when published, instantly shook the worm-eaten economies of the European world then enforcing their position and power through their armies. All of the ‘superpowers’ of the day, Great Britain, France, and Spain operated under Mercantilism(15) Economic Systems – gold and silver backed export cultures, always hungry for new markets to exploit. They struggled in what was a zero-sum world, where one’s wins came at the expense of a neighbor’s losses. In the aftermath of the Seven Years War, Britain levied taxes on her American colonies, feeling justified for doing so by virtue of having provided defense in a time of danger (defeating the French in Quebec and elsewhere). Great Britain’s King George III, his Prime Minister Lord North, and the privileged leadership class considered the colonies ungrateful and imposed a Sugar Tax in 1764(16), followed by a Stamp Tax in 1765(17). The fight was on between the King and his subjects in the American colonies. Tensions escalated by degree: the British forcing quartering of soldiers in colonial homes, the Boston Massacre, the Tea Party and, finally, reached white-hot with The Battles at Lexington and Concord and the Battle of Bunker Hill, in Boston. This was the context into which the U.S. emerged with her Pluto ascending over the birthplace of Adam Smith.
The King’s response was war, fortified by a treaty (February 12, 1776, with the Sun between 23˚-24˚ Aquarius) with the Prussia King Fredrick William II, through which the British hired 12,000 mercenary troops from Hessel-Cassel (capital modern Kassel, Germany at 9˚ E 30’) for $150,000. It was Frederick William II’s Minister of Education, Wollner,(18) in 1788, who issued a decree forbidding any teaching that was heretical. And it was Kant who was issued an order demanding he cease to “misuse [his] philosophy to undermine and destroy many of the most important and fundamental doctrines of the Holy Scriptures and of Christianity.” Durant, supra.
The money paid by the British for Hessian mercenaries went into the Royal Prussian and various German princes’ coffers. (19) America came to know these mercenaries as the dreaded bayoneting Hessians.
"No account of the American Revolution is complete without reference to the Hessians. They are vilified in the Declaration of Independence as "foreign Mercenaries" imported to complete Britain's work of "death, desolation and tyranny." They are the garrison of Trenton, celebrating Christmas not wisely, but too well, until George Washington and his men rudely interrupt their revels. A Hessian ghost is implicated as the Headless Horseman in Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
They are the villains in D.W. Griffith's 1909 film The Hessian Renegades,
one of the earliest war movies. A Hessian (Yosemite) Sam Von Schmamm even serves as a cartoon foil for Bugs Bunny, finally collapsing in frustrated exhaustion with the memorable line, "I'm a Hessian without no aggression." Dennis Showalter(20)
The communities they were recruited from were; Hessel Cassel (9˚ E 29’), Hesse Hanau (8˚ E 55’), Brunswick (10˚ E 31’), Anspach, Bayreuth (11˚ E 35’), Anhalt Zerbst, and Waldeck (11˚ E 57’), all tightly clustered around 9˚ east. The United States, a vision yet to be born, would manifest with her Mars (that penultimate symbol for war and military aggression) running all along 10˚ E 12’ through Prussia, now Germany. Kant (certainly a forceful pen with Mars in Gemini) was born at 20˚ East 31’ within the shadow of that zone, 10 degrees (21) to the east of the exact U.S. Mars IC line. Within the zone of this 10˚ East longitude the future America would fight in two world wars (in Germany, Italy, and North Africa) and Kant’s words about nations and their standing armies would take hold:
“Standing armies excite states to outrival one another in the number of their armed men, which has no limit. Through the expense occasioned thereby, peace becomes in the long run more oppressive than a short war; and standing armies are thus the cause of aggressive wars undertaken in order to get rid of this burden.
“All the Landgraf,
Frederick II, had to do was maintain some 12,000 men for service across the Atlantic. Meeting the original number required mobilizing four garrison regiments in addition to the field army. Despite the strain on the system, the proposition seemed ideal to the diet, which supported the treaty enthusiastically; it also provided support for the personal lifestyle of Frederick. The general population benefited from more than a half million thalers in pay and bonuses distributed directly to soldiers' families.
“Times, however, were changing. In Europe and in Germany, intellectuals and publicists raised a cry against a "trade in human flesh" that flew in the face of everything the Enlightenment supported. Casualty replacement became an unexpected problem. British soldiers and diplomats promised quick victory. Instead, almost 19,000 Hessians, 7,000 more than the original contingent, crossed the Atlantic after 1776. Five thousand died from all causes, more than 80 percent from disease alone. Another 1,300 were wounded. Between 2,500 and 3,100 went missing. Many of those simply remained in the New World. Their number nevertheless suggested a significant degree of alienation from the subsidy system among those at its sharp end." Walters, supra.
But those wars were far in the future from Kant’s time, the 1776 force being raised, during Kant’s lifetime and from his environments, had been roused to destroy the United States of America before her first breath as a new nation. And Kant’s voice continued past this fateful moment to champion for a new order, for democracy, and for liberty throughout the world.
The Mars line would ironically become a key part - the HAND - of a YOD pattern to the Pluto lines. One of the Mars lines, the Nadir IC ran north of Bremerhaven within 350 miles – an adequate orb when active. Crossing the English Channel the Hessians moved closer and closer to the line (Portsmouth is 228 miles south of the Pluto Ascendant line, well within the zone), until they finally crossed it in the Celtic Sea off Ireland, en route to the colonies, bent on destruction.FORCES SET IN MOTION
All total 30,067(22) Hessian soldiers launched from the Mars IC Zone, predestined by Kantian space
to fight the British colonists between 1776 and 1782. The troops embarked from Bremerhaven, German (8˚ E 34’) on April 15th, sailed on the 17th, eventually landing in Portsmouth, Britain. On May 6th the combined British/Hessian forces, 150 ships with 12,500 Hessians, set sail for the colonies and destiny. Pluto was at 27˚ Capricorn. During their voyage the American colonies declared their independence. After a long, tedious, difficult journey they arrived in Sandy Hook, NY, on August 17, 1776, in time to fight George Washington’s army of 10,000 at The Battle of Long Island. Washington lost 1,400 men, the Hessians 375. These are the stimulations of war preparations (experienced from centuries ago) and for my perceptions of the Mars and Pluto signatures connections to it. ADAM SMITH
Adam Smith was born in Born June 5, 1723,(23) with his Sun in Gemini (the astrological signature for the messenger), 13˚ Gemini 39’ to 14˚ Gemini 39’, closely conjunct the North Node (signature of Destiny) at 14˚ Gemini 11’, and to the future U.S. Mars at 21˚ Gemini. It seemed, from the astrological way of seeing the world that it was written that Adam Smith would create (Sun) and leave some profound idea as his legacy (North Node). Smith was a close friend of David Hume, who was in turn the foil for Kant’s philosophy. Everyone was stimulated by everyone else. An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nation
s was written in Glasgow, Scotland and published (First Edition, in two volumes, on March 9, 1776) in the Strand, London, England. Note, in the following map, that the U.S. Pluto Ascendant traces diagonally through the UK, running 125 miles southeast of Glasgow and 210 miles northwest of London.
From the onset, these distances are important considerations as we judge what is and what is not included within the Pluto space. Conservatively, I stayed close to the heart of the zone, two and three degrees of distance or roughly 120–180 miles on the ground. Throughout the life of the United States, whenever the zone is activated (by transit, progression, or some such astrological technique), the U.S. experience of Pluto becomes rich within the zone. The experience ‘overflows its banks’ pulling in more geography. In that 1776 season, when America’s relationship with the British Isles became geographically stamped, inculcated with plutonian emphasis, the British government in London timed its dispatch of a fleet of warships towards New England shores to smash the colonial rebellion. They crossed the soon to be U.S-Pluto Ascendant space in route. CONNECTING TO ADAM SMITH
During that same window of time, Benjamin Franklin (born January 17, 1706) was familiar with Adam Smith’s economic theory challenging the mercantile system. This familiarity, whatever its depth, would reverberate back to Philadelphia, whose inhabitants would fix upon it as a credo. Like Smith, Franklin knew Hume, and had had visited him in Edinburgh years before. It is likely he had contact with Adam Smith who lived up the road in Glasgow and socialized with David Hume. The ideas of the enlightenment had many opportunities to flow. The U.S. would emerge and evolve as a new nation that would reject all the injustices of the Old World Mercantile System of colonial rule and class privilege.
Astrologically, it is noteworthy that in 1776 transiting Pluto was transiting over Franklin’s Sun. Considered one of the chief architects of the American founding, Franklin was living the most significant times of his life – as an influential participant in the forming of a new nation. And what of Franklin’s access to Adam Smith? We know that Franklin talked to the likes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Alexander Hamilton. We know that Washington’s personal copy of The Wealth of Nations
, a 1789 edition with his signature, is retained by the Firestone Rare Book Library at Princeton. For his part, Alexander Hamilton, America’s first Secretary of the Treasury, designer of the U.S. currency, and America’s first central banker, offered extended criticism of the laissez-faire ideas in Smith’s book on limited government interference in his 1791 Report of Manufactures.
We also know that Franklin was a friend of Philosopher David Hume, one of the giants of the Enlightenment, and close friend of Adam Smith. Supra.
Smith’s ideas about reforming the British economy system were widely known among key founders of the new American state. THE GATHERING
Pause to consider this summary chronology of events:
• From 1766 until 1781, Immanuel Kant wrote his magnum opus
“The Critique of Pure Reason” pushing back on Locke and David Hume’s works.
• Adam Smith is possibly corresponding with Benjamin Franklin, who is experiencing transiting Pluto’s conjunction of his Sun. Franklin is in the thick of the rebellion in the colonies.
• March 1776 Adam Smith publishes “The Wealth of Nations” in London; the first edition sells out as the North American colonies frame their grievances against Britain.
• In May 1776, a British expeditionary force of more that 150 ships and 32,000 troops, including 12,000 Hessians from the ‘soon-to-be-born’ U.S.A.’s Mars IC Zone, began its voyage across the Atlantic with orders to “nip the incipient American rebellion in the bud.”(24)
• July 4, 4:47 p.m., 1776, the colonies proclaim their Declaration of Independence from Britain.
We cannot repeat too often that the thread common to all these dates was the planet Pluto in spac
e in late Capricorn. That planet is further emphasized by being part of a pattern in the timed
U.S. chart called a YOD; both space and time being Kant’s a prior
i imperatives. And this space and time determined Yod can be understood as a signature for ongoing Adjustment, Reorientation, and Transition for the U.S. and the world in her moment of manifestation; in short a destiny pattern pointed towards HOPE. Upon America’s entry into the community of nations in 1776, her ‘Significant Moment’ laid down a vast pattern of geographic connections around the Earth relating her, in different ways, with her fellow nations; establishing relationships, which would remain in place as long as the United States exists.
As the new nation grew, maturing through vulnerable childhood, into adolescence and on to young adulthood, America came to discover her uniquely appointed opportunities, benefits and challenges tracing geographically around the Earth. It was in her Pluto Zones that she faced correlates, such as power, wealth, and mysterious encounters. Americans would learn to adjust, reorient and transition in her Pluto Descendant Zone through the exotic Orient, the embodiment of Pluto seen in the secrets of Forbidden City of Beijing, China. The U.S. Pluto through Beijing finds its correlate in the Tiananmen Square massacre(25) – the intense stimulation of the American consciousness. Further south along the Pluto Descendant zone the bizarre flora and fauna lands of Australia and New Zealand would meet and befuddle the American traveler. In Austria the American reoriented to know the kangaroo, boomerang, and black opal. U.S. PLUTO DESCENDANT THROUGH CHINA SPACEU.S. PLUTO DESCENDANT THROUGH EAST AUSTRALIA SPACE
Closer to home, off her northwestern coast, America directly accesses her Pluto Nadir Zone cutting through the Alaska Panhandle. In Alaska, America’s own awesome displays of mystery and power reign. Running just east of Canada’s Glaciar National Park(26) and lands where the bald eagle, symbol of the nation, finds safe haven in large numbers, runs the Pluto Nadir Zone northeast of Juneau, Alaska. Alaska’s fisheries, gold, copper, and king oil are administered through Juneau. America has tasted experiences in all of her Pluto Zones throughout her 233 years. Here is that Pluto Nadir Zone:U.S. PLUTO ON THE NADIR
We have seen that the Pluto Ascendant sweeps Britain, down through the Irish Channel, southwest across the Atlantic, finally reaching the mind numbing grandeur of the Brazilian Amazon and on deep into one of the world’s greatest and most mysterious jungles, over lands of enigmatic poverty and stupendous mineral wealth. U.S. PLUTO ASCENDANT THROUGH SOUTH AMERICAN SPACE
This wealth did not escape the eye of American corporations. Indeed, Brazil’s high quality quartz mineral wealth was a strategic mineral, essential for communications technology during WWII and because of this the world’s largest Air Force Base of that unprecedented war was situated there. Today, in 2010, Brazil is becoming a true Superpower in its own right. Winning the Olympic bid and taking the lead in global activism over climate change are Brazil’s early moves to achieve that end.
Lastly, we reach the war riddled region of Pluto in the exotic lands of the Persian Gulf. In all of her Pluto Zones, the U.S. has reaped great economic benefits, grown herself with the mysteries she has there encountered, and amassed cultural treasures in her many universities and museums. Many of her Pluto zones and the Parans branching off them connect to strategic relationships with countries that supply her with vital raw materials. In today’s world, the most important of these materials by far is energy; it is the U.S. interest in hydrocarbons, Big Oil, which compels and focuses American activities and interest in the Persian Gulf. It is this story that links with Adam Smith’s first maxim for “pursuit of self-interest” writ large. U.S. PLUTO MIDHEAVEN THROUGH THE PERSIAN GULF SPACEEditor's Note:
